DHAKA, July 21, 2019 (BSS) – Two Dhaka courts today dismissed two cases
against Priya Saha filed on charges of sedition by making false complaint to
US President Donald Trump against Bangladesh.

Supreme Court lawyer and International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) prosecutor
Barrister Syed Sayedul Haque Suman filed the first case against Saha with the
court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Ziaur Rahman.

The court has recorded deposition of the plaintiff this morning and
dismissed his plea later in the day.

Dhaka Bar Council executive committee member Advocate Ibrahim Khalil
filed the second case with the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Abu
Sufian and the court after hearing the plaintiff’s plea, dismissed the case
as well.

Both the plaintiffs had pleaded to take into cognizance the charges
against her under section 123 (a), 124 (a), and 500 of the penal code.

Priya Saha made the false allegations of persecution of minority
communities in Bangladesh to President Trump while participating in the
Second Ministerial to Advance Religious Freedom held at the US Department of
State in Washington, D.C. from July 16 to 18.

Bangladesh government on July 20 termed her allegations as ‘blatant
lies’ and condemned her remarks in the strongest possible terms.

Condemning her remarks in strongest language, Ministry of Foreign
Affairs in a release said there was an ulterior motive behind Priya Saha’s
absolutely false and concocted stories that’s target was to malign
Bangladesh.
