KUSTIA, July 18, 2019 (BSS)- A court here today sentenced principal of a college to 10 years imprisonment and fined Taka one lakh for sexually assaulting a female teacher.
Judge of Kustia Women and Children Repression Prevention Special Court Munsi Md. Mashiar Rahman handed down the verdict against Chowdhury Nuruddin Md. Selim alias Sajal Chowdhury, 52 in his presence.
According to the prosecution, Sajal Chowdhry, principal of Syed Masud Rumi College assaulted a female teacher of the college sexually on March 30, 2014 in the washing room of the college.
The female teacher filed the case under the Section-10 of the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act, 2000 with Kustia Model thana on April 7, 2014.
After investigation police submitted charge sheet against the principal on August 13, 2014.
In default to pay the fine the principal would suffer six months more in jail, the court said.
