GM Quader made Jatiya Party chairman

DHAKA, July 18, 2019 (BSS) – Jatiya Party acting chairman Golam Mohammad Quader has been made its chairman.

Jatiya Party Secretary General Moshiur Rahman Ranga made the announcement at the party’s Banani office today.

Ranga said the announcement has been made following an organisational directive, which was given by HM Ershad before he fell ill, a party press release.

“In absence of the party’s chairman, GM Quader will take over the responsibility as the chairman,” he said.

Talking to reporters at the party office, GM Quader said the party as per its constitution will now select a candidate for the parliamentary seat that fell vacant with the death of HM Ershad.

He said the party will inform the Speaker who will be the Leader of the Opposition after holding discussion in the part forum.

Party leaders Kazi Feroz Rashid, MP, Syed Abu Hossain Babla, MP, Sunil Shova Roy, SM Faisal Chisty and Major (retd) Khaled Khan were, among others, present at the meeting.

On July 14, Jatiya Party chairman and former president HM Ershad died at Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in the capital at the age of 89.
