11,360 youths trained at Rangpur TTC get overseas jobs

RANGPUR, July 18, 2019 (BSS) – Some 11,360 male and female youths have got overseas jobs as skilled workforces in 23 countries after completing technical training on 27 courses in nine trades at Rangpur Technical Training Centre (TTC) in last ten years.

Besides, 2,996 other trained youths at the institution have been
employed at different local industries, garments and other factories, offices and enterprises across the country.

“A total of 14,346 youths, including 11,940 males and 2,406 females, have been employed both at home and abroad and they are earning well to change their fortune,” Principal of Rangpur TTC Engineer Lutfar Rahman told BSS.

He said the 11,360 trained youths, including 9,958 males and 1,402 females, who are working as skilled workforce abroad, are regularly sending remittance to further strengthen national economy.

A total of 23,269 youths were admitted at Rangpur TTC since in inception in 2008, 20,642 of them successfully completed trainings courses.

The nine trades are computer, electrical, electronics, refrigeration and air conditioning, welding and fabrication, automotive, garments, house keeping and foreign languages (English, Japanese and Korean).

“The Bureau of Manpower Employment and Training of Ministry of Expatriates Welfare and Overseas Employment is running Rangpur TTC to turn unemployed population into skilled workforce to increase productivity and accelerate progress,” Rahman said.

The institution is producing skilled human resources contributing to improving human asset index for meeting demand of local industries and creating job opportunities abroad to increase foreign remittance.

On completion of training courses at Rangpur TTC, many local employing industries, factories and organisations are directly appointing skilled workforce and overseas employment recruiting agencies appointing them in foreign countries.

“High officials of overseas employment recruiting agencies frequently visit Rangpur TTC and recruit our trained male and female skilled workforce as per their requirements in their countries,” said Rahman.

Youth Anjuara Akhter of Gaibandha completed Japanese language course at Rangpur TTC and was recruited by an institution at Tokyo city in Japan where she is earning Taka 1.40-lakh monthly in terms of Bangladeshi currency.

“After completing training course on house keeping, Zaheda Khatun of Rangpur is working in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) and earning Taka 22,000 per month,” said Rahman.

Sathi Akhter, Rani Begum and Roksana of different districts completed training at Rangpur TTC on housekeeping and they are earning Taka 30,000 per month after being recruited by overseas employment recruiting agencies in the KSA.

Abu Bakar of Rangpur completed training on scaffolding course at Rangpur TTC and is working at a construction company in Singapore city to earn 700 Singaporean dollars (About Taka 44,000) per month.

Mozaharul Islam of Rangpur is working as a driver in Dubai city to earn Taka 90,000 per month after completing training on driving course at Rangpur TTC.

Irene Akhter and Parul Begum of Nilphamari completed training course on garments at Rangpur TTC and are working in a garments factory in Jordan to earn Taka 20,000 per month each.

Abdur Rahman and Hashu Sheikh completed training on computer and electrical trades at Rangpur TCC and are working as office attendant and electrician in the KSA and earning Taka 30,000 and 40,000 per month respectively.

“Like many others, Afroza Akhter of Nilphamari and Monwara Begum of Rangpur are working as housekeepers in Oman and Jordan and earning Taka 16,000 per month each,” Rahman said.

Besides, Rangpur TTC has so far conducted pre-departure training courses on legal and other aspects of foreign countries for trained 9,943 youths recruited by different agencies for 27 countries, Rahman added.
