NARAYANGANJ, July 16, 2019 (BSS)- A suspected drug trader was killed in a gunfight with District’s Detective Branch (DB)of Police in Chadmari area under Sadar upazila of district early hours today.
The deceased was identified as Biplob, son of Sultan Miah resident in Chadmari area under Sadar upazila. He was accused in 14 drug cases filed with Sadar Thana Police Station, police said.
“Acting on a tip-off, a DB unit police went to the area around 2:30am when they came to know that a group of drug peddlers were gathering there,” Sensing their presence, drug peddlers opened fire on them, forcing them to fire back that triggered a gunfight, SI Kamrul Islam said.
Later, police recovered Biplob’s body from the spot and sent to Narayanganj General Hospital for autopsy.
Two policemen also received injuries during the gunfight.
Police recovered a gun from the spot, he added.
