SIRAJGANJ, July 15, 2019 (BSS) – At least nine persons including a newly weds were killed and three others injured critically when a train rammed over a microbus at a unprotected level crossing at Swalop area under Ullapara upazila here today.
Police referring to the eyewitnesses said, the fetal accident occurred at Swalop rail crossing on Dhaka-Rajshahi rail route at about 6.30pm when the Dhaka bound Padma Express hit the microbus carrying a bridal party.
Nine persons including the newly weds died on the spot and three others injured critically, police said.
The train directly hit at the microbus when it was carelessly crossing the rail track, Kawshik Ahmed, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Ullapara told BSS over telephone.
The bride was identified as Sumaiya and bridegroom as Rajan, BSS Sirajganj correspondent said. However, identities of the other deceased could not be known immediately.
The injured persons were rushed to Ullapara Upazila Health Complex and later shifted to Sirajganj Sadar Hospital.
