Seoul keen to be partner Bangladesh’s vision 2041: Lee

DHAKA, July 14, 2019 (BSS) – South Korean Prime Minister Lee Nak-yon said his country would always stay beside Bangladesh for materializing the Vision-2041 to help it turn into a developed country as he paid a courtesy call on President M Abdul Hamid at Bangabhaban here this evening.

“South Korea gives priority to the bilateral relations with Bangladesh . . . It wants to be a development partner of Bangladesh to materialize its Vision-2041,” Lee said, lauding the present development trend of Bangladesh.

Later, the President’s Press Secretary Mohammad Joynal Abedin briefed the reporters.

The visiting South Korean prime minister said although his country started the trade relations with Bangladesh stepping into the textile sector, the relation has subsequently been diversified.

Referring to the meeting with his Bangladeshi counterpart Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, he said the meeting was very fruitful and hoped that the existing ties would strengthen in the days to come.

Upon his arrival, President Abdul Hamid welcomed the South Korean premier at Bangabhaban with a bouquet of flower.

The President urged South Korean entrepreneurs to invest more in Bangladesh as the bilateral relations between the two countries are expanding day by day.

Terming South Korea as an important development partner of Bangladesh, President Abdul Hamid said the South Korean investment here is also increasing gradually.

“There are many similarities between the two countries in terms of development activities. And Bangladesh is getting inspired with it,” the head of the state mentioned.

Land Minister Saifuzzaman Chowdhury Javed, foreign secretary Md. Shahidul Haque, President’s secretary Sampad Barua and military secretary Major General SM Shamim-Uz-Zaman, among others, were present at the meeting.
