Palak applauds Digital Sylhet City Project advancement

SYLHET, June 21, 2019 (BSS) – State Minister for ICT Division Zunaid Ahmed Palak recently observed the advancement of Digital Sylhet City Project taken by Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC).

Under this project for the first time in the country, Face Recognition
and Automatic Number-plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras are being installed in
Sylhet City Corporation areas.

A monitoring room has been constructed at Kotowali Model Police Station
in Sylhet to control these special IP cameras. Sylhet Metropolitan Police
will be in charge of controlling this latest security system. This robust
technology will help police to identify suspected persons and vehicles.

A memorandum of understanding (MOU) was signed between Bangladesh
Computer Council and Sylhet Metropolitan Police regarding this project.

After signing ceremony, Zunaid Ahmed Palak visited Kotwali Police Station
to observe the project progress of this artificial intelligence based IP
cameras.

While visiting the progress of the project, Huawei Technologies, who is
the main solution provider in this project, demonstrated the special and
artificial intelligence features of this robust technologies. The
installation of these IP cameras at various important points of the city is
currently ongoing.

Additionally the free Wi-Fi zone will be constructed very soon under this
project at 62 locations in Sylhet with a total of 126 access points. It will
help to improve citizen’s livelihood through the use of ICT.

Executive Director of BCC Parthapratim Deb, the Project Director of a2i
Md Mustafizur Rahman, Project Director of Digital Sylhet City Project
Mohammad Mohidur Rahman Khan, the Deputy Project Director of Digital Sylhet
City Project. Madho Sudun Chanda, Additional Commissioner of Sylhet
Metropolitan Police and other officials of Huawei technologies were also
present, on the occasion.
