Sourav, nephew of Sohel Taj rescued from Mymensigh

DHAKA, June 20, 2019 (BSS) – Sayed Iftekhar Alam Sourav, 25, nephew of former state minister for home affairs Tanzim Ahmed Sohel Taj, was rescued from Tarakanda upazila in Mymensingh early today.

Some people dropped Sourav at Battala area in the upazila around 5:30, local said.

“On information, police rushed to the spot and rescued him and send him to Dhaka with police protection”, said Mymensingh Superintendent of police (SP) Shah Abid Hossain.

He also said that the police are still searching for the people involved in the abduction.

Sourav, a student of media and communications department of the Independent University Bangladesh, was picked up by some plainclothes men from in front of Afmi Plaza in Chattogram city at 7pm on June 9.

On June 10, victim’s father Idris Alam filed a complaint with local station over his missing son.

Earlier, on Monday, at a press conference, Sohel Taj, son of martyred national leader Tajuddin Ahmed, sought the prime minister’s intervention in finding out his nephew Sourav.

However, he went live on his verified facebook page around 6:00am today and said that Sourav has been found alive.
