94,556 children to be fed vitamin A plus capsule in Narail

NARAIL, June 17, 2019 (BSS) – A total of 94,556 children aged between six to 59 months will be fed vitamin-A Plus capsules on June 22 in the district to prevent childhood blindness and reduce child mortality.

Under the campaign, children aged between six to 11 months will be given blue-coloured capsules, while red-coloured capsules will be administered to children aged between 12 to 59 months.

The campaign will start at 8am and continue till 4pm.

National vitamin ‘A’ plus campaign will be observed in three upazilas of Narail district on June 22. A total of 94,556 children aged 6 months to 59 months will be fed vitamin A plus capsules in Sadar, Lohagora and Kalia upazilas of the district.

On the occasion, a press briefing was held in civil surgeon conference room today with civil surgeon Dr Munshi Asaduzzaman Toni in the chair.

Dr Alok Kumar Bagchi, Health official Mollah Forkan Ali, EPI Superintendent Haradhan Chandra Majumder, Narail Press Club president Advocate Alomgir Siddique, vice-president Sultan Mahmood, among others, were present at the press conference.

Dr Asaduzzaman said some 2,540 field level health workers, volunteers and supervisors were engaged in 982 centres under 39 unions and two pouroshavas in the district to make the programme a success.

He called upon the parents, teachers, public representatives, civil society members and journalists to extend their support for bringing all children under the Vitamin A Plus coverage.
