RANGPUR, June 14, 2019 (BSS) – The Department of Narcotics Control (DNC) seized 1,850 bottles of rectified spirit and arrested a presumed drug trader from different places in the district on Thursday night.

“We had a secret information that some drug peddlers were carrying
rectified spirit on a Rangpur-bound passenger coach from Dhaka,” Deputy
Director of DNC for Rangpur Md. Masud Rana told BSS today.

Accordingly, a special DNC team led by Masud Rana went to a place near the
Fire Service and Civil Defense Station in the city and waited for arrival of
the passenger coach there.

“Soon after arrival of the coach there in the evening, we conducted a raid
and arrested one person in possession of the rectified spirit,” Rana added.
“Based on his statement, we conducted another raid at Gopalpur village in
Badarganj upazila of Rangpur and arrested owner of the seized rectified
spirit and presumed drug trader Harun, 50, of the same village at night,” he
said.

After filing a case in this connection under section 36 of the Narcotics
Control Act-2018, the DNC officials handed over arrested Harun to Kotwali
Thana of Rangpur Metropolitan Police, Rana added.
