Govt to buy rescue equipments to tackle climate change: Enamur

DHAKA, June 11, 2019 (BSS)- State Minister for Disaster Management and
Relief Md Enamur Rahman today said the government is planning to buy rescue
equipments worth about several 100 crores as a measure for disaster
management.

“Bangladesh currently is well ahead of many countries in the area of
disaster management… That’s why the country is considered a role model in
managing natural disasters,” he said while exchanging views with Bangladesh
Chhatra League (BCL) leaders of Dhamrai upazila in Talbagh area of Savar.

The state minister said a disaster management training academy will be
established in Dhaka aiming to strengthen the activities of disaster
management and relief ministry. Keeping in mind about the academy, the
government is planning to buy the rescue equipments, he added.

“During the exhibition of ‘Integrated Safety and Security’ in Moscow,
Russia ensured Bangladesh to assist in every possible way for minimizing the
challenges of climate change,” Enamur said, adding that training and usages
of rescue equipments will make Bangladesh a more disaster tolerable country.

Local BCL leaders were present at the meeting.
