One held, firearms and drugs recovered in C’nawabganj

CHAPAINAWABGANJ, June 11, 2019 (BSS)- Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), in separate drives, arrested an alleged arms peddler and recovered 500-gram of heroin, 98 bottles of phensidyl, a pistol, two magazines and five rounds of bullet in Chapainawabganj sadar and Shibganj upazilas in the early hours of today.

The arms peddler was identified as Md Polash, 29, of Chiattarbighi
Borotappu village under Shibganj upazila of the district.

On information, the BGB said a patrol team of the BGB-53 battalion from
Polladanga border outpost conducted a raid in Kodalkati village under Alatuli
union of the Sadar upazila around 12.30am and recovered the contraband drugs
in an abandoned condition.

In another drive, separate team of the BGB from Masudpur border outpost
raided Thotapara village under Monakasha union of Shibganj upazila around
2.30am and recovered 98 bottles of phensidyl.

Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-5, in a drive, arrested an alleged
illegal arms peddler with a foreign-made pistol, two magazines and five
rounds of bullet from Sonapur village under Shibganj upazila.

Later, the arrested person along with the arms and ammunition was handed
over to the police of Shibganj thana and a case was filed in this connection.
