Security strengthened ahead of Eid: DMP commissioner

DHAKA, May 26, 2019 (BSS) – Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Md Asaduzzaman Mia today said security measures have been beefed up in the city ahead of the holy Eid-ul-Fitr.

“A large number of police members have been deployed at bus and launch terminals and railway stations, shopping malls, markets and police patrolling has also been enhanced marking the Eid-ul-Fitr,” he said while distributing cloths among destitute people marking the Eid at Krishibid Institution, Bangladesh here.

DMP Additional Police Commissioner Md Abdul Baten, Joint Police Commissioner Ashrafuzzaman, Joint Police Commissioner Sheikh Nazmul Alam, Tejgan Division Deputy Police Commissioner Biplab Kumar Sarker and Mirpur Division Deputy Police Commissioner Masud Ahmed were present on the occasion, among others.

The DMP commissioner said police personnel both in plainclothes and in uniforms are working at different shopping malls as the people can return to their residence after completion of their shopping till midnight.

Asaduzzaman said additional security will be ensured during the Eid-ul-Fitr when the capital city will become empty as maximum people will leave the capital to enjoy the festival with their dear and near ones.
