Momen urges Chinese manufacturers to invest in Bangladesh

DHAKA, May 23, 2019 (BSS) – Foreign Minister Dr A K Abdul Momen today urged Hong Kong based Chinese manufacturers to invest here terming Bangladesh as an unexplored gold mine that offers cheap labor and low energy cost to the foreign investors.

“Explore Bangladesh potentials, if you make money come here (make investment) earlier than others,” he told a seminar titled “Trade and Investment Opportunities in Bangladesh” at foreign ministry here.

Besides cheap labor, Momen said Bangladesh has a vast local market with 160 million of people to consume various goods.

“You will make money, in return Bangladesh will get more employment opportunities .. it will be a win win situation,” he said.

He urged the Chinese investors to explore various potentials of Bangladesh so that they can decide which sector will be beneficial for them.

Momen said Bangladesh is looking forward to get huge foreign investment and trying to diversify its trade basket to achieve desired development goals set by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina turning the country into a developed one.

Foreign ministry organized the seminar in collaboration with Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) to present Bangladesh investment potentials before a delegation of Chinese Manufacturers’ Association (CMA), now visiting here.

During the seminar, high officials of BIDA, BEZA, BEPZA, High Tech Park and PPP presented separate presentations before the Chinese manufacturers highlighting various incentives offering by the present government to get FDI (Foreign Direct Investment).
