DHAKA, May 23, 2019 (BSS) – The 10 participating teams will get the final chance to figure out their combination and plug the loopholes of the team ahead of the ICC Cricket World Cup as official warm-up matches start on Friday at different venues across the England and Wales.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) arranged two practice matches for every team and those two games will be their last chance to get their final preparation and tune the necessary things.
Afghanistan will take on Pakistan in Bristol while South Africa will face off Sri Lanka in Cardiff in the day’s two practice matches. Bangladesh will play their two practice game against Pakistan and India on May 26 and 28 respectively, both at the Cardiff.
The Bangladesh team however had already reached Cardiff after the completion of their five-day camp at the Leicestershire. The official practice games will end on May 28 and after a day gap, the cricket’s biggest extravaganza will roll into the ground with the match between hosts England and South Africa at the Kennington Oval, London on May 30.
Bangladesh will start their World Cup campaign on June 2, taking on South Africa at the Kennington Oval.
Hosts England and India are widely touted as the most favourites to win the coveted trophy while a resurgent Australia is believed to throw a stiff challenge to the duos.
The cricket pundits however termed Bangladesh as the giant killers and warned other teams not to take the Tigers lightly.
Bangladesh, a quarterfinalist of last World Cup, are eyeing to seal the semifinal berth this time around and their tri-series performance in which they lifted the trophy, remaining unbeaten boosted their confidence only.
Bangladesh has won 17 matches out of 27 in since the start of January 2018. In terms of win-loss ratio in the last one and half years, they are in the third position with England leading the way with 24 wins in 35 matches. India won 22 matches out of 33 to place them in second position.
The Tigers are in fact ahead of the likes of Australia, New Zealand, West Indies, Pakistan and Sri Lanka which gave them a confidence to bring up historic success in this World Cup.
