DHAKA, March 28, 2018 (BSS) – President Md Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in separate messages have greeted members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) on the eve of the 14th founding anniversary of the elite law enforcement agency.
President Hamid in his message lauded the professional efficiency and firm mentality of RAB members in playing a major role in maintaining law and order in the country.
“I am recalling the contribution of the fallen members of RAB, who sacrificed their lives in maintaining the law and order of the country, with profound respect. RAB members have been able to earn the trust and love of the people by their contributions in preventing terrorists, militants, extremists and pirates, recovering illegal arms and ammunition, stopping human trafficking, recovering illegal VOIP equipment and stopping the use and expansion of drugs,” the president said.
“The present government has implemented different development programs in modernizing RAB, and I hope these steps will further increase the efficiency and ability of RAB. People hope that RAB members will play an effective role in building a Sonar Bangla as dreamt by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman,” he added.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina too praised RAB for its leading role against terrorism, extremism, militancy, piracy, human trafficking, arms and drug business in the country.
“Peace and liveliness have returned among the people of coastal areas as RAB has managed to arrest huge number of pirates, made them to lay down their arms, recovered huge arms and ammunition through continuous raids,” she said.
The prime minister restated different steps taken by the present government for making the force a modern law enforcement agency.
“The force has been enriched with the inclusion of modern equipment and technologies. Necessary fund has already been allocated for building RAB Headquarters in capital’s Ashkona area,” she added.
The prime minister hoped that each and every member of the elite force would observe their duty with patriotism, honesty, devotion and discipline and by upholding the spirit of War of Liberation.
She also wished more and more success for RAB.
