SAARC Secretariat mourns death in Kathmandu plane crash

DHAKA, Mar 13, 2018 (BSS) – South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) has conveyed sincere condolences at the loss of precious lives in a tragic plane crash in Kathmandu, Nepal yesterday.

In separate letters to foreign secretaries of Bangladesh and Nepal, SAARC Secretary General Amjed Hussain B. Sial expressed profound grief and sorrow over the tragic incident that claimed over 49 lives including women and children.

“Our sympathies are with the families of those who passed away in the sad incident,” the secretary general said. He prayed for eternal peace of the departed souls and early recovery of the injured. At least 49 people including 26 Bangladeshis were killed when an US-Bangla flight from Dhaka crashed in Kathmandu’s Tribhuvan International Airport yesterday.

The dead also include 21 Nepalese, one Chinese and a Maldivian. Besides, 10 Bangladeshis and 12 Nepalese survived the crash.
