US Bangla confirms its pilot death

DHAKA, March 13, 2018 (BSS) – Bangladesh’s private US Bangla Airlines today confirmed the death of its pilot Abid Sultan who sustained injuries in the plane crash at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu of Nepal that left nearly 50 people dead.

“Pilot of the crashed US Bangla Airlines flight Abid Sultan, who received severe injuries in yesterday’s tragic plane accident, died at a local hospital in Kathmundu,” the carrier’s General Manager Kamrul Islam said while briefing newsmen at its Baridhara head office in city.

Referring to two onboard pilots and two cabin crew when the palne crashed and caught fire, he said one pilot, one co-pilot and one cabin crew are confirmed dead while the fate of another cabin crew is yet to be known.

Islam also said, “A seven-member team of our airlines along with the victims’ relatives onboard a special flight reached Kathmandu around 11.10 am,”

The team has already launched necessary works and the details of the casualties could be known later on the day, he added.
