10 killed in separate road accidents in Gaibandha

 GAIBANDHA, March 10, 2018 (BSS) – At least 10 people were killed and 10 others injured in two separate road accidents in Palashbari upazila of the district today.

Police said a rod and cement-laden truck turned turtle on the Bogra- Rangpur Highway at noon as its driver lost control over the steering, leaving seven persons dead on the spot.

The identities of the deceased could not be known.

On the other hand, three laborers were killed and 10 others wounded in a collision between a human hauler and a bus on the highway at South Bus Stand of the upazila at about 9.30 am.

The accident occurred in the area when the human hauler collided head-on with the bus, leaving three dead on the spot and 10 others injured, said Mahmudul Hasan, Officer-in-Charge of Palashbari police station.

The deceased are Jakir Hossain, 25, of Nakai village, Khashru Miah, 50, of Shibpur village and Razu Miah, 24, of the same village under Gobindaganj upazila of the district.

The injured were admitted to Palashbari Upazila Health Complex immediately. Of them, five were referred to Rangpur Medical College Hospital in critical condition.
