Polls using EVMs will be free, fair: CEC
FENI, March 28, 2019 (BSS) – Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) K M Nurul Huda today said polls will be held in a free, fair and neutral manner in future using Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs).
“The polls using EVMs were free, fair and neutral in the past. Elections with the same machines will also be held in the same way in future,” the CEC said while exchanging views with journalists at the Feni Circuit House here this afternoon.
The CEC said snatching ballot papers and ballot boxes was the regular phenomenon in the past, but there is no possibility of such irregularities in the elections using the EVMs.
Two members from the Bangladesh Army will be present in each polling center and they will look into any problem in the EVM machines immediately, the CEC said.
Deputy Commissioner of Feni, Police Super, polls returning officers, among others, attended the view of exchange meeting.
