Bus conductor, helper remanded over death of Abrar

DHAKA, March 27, 2019 (BSS) – A Dhaka court today put conductor and helper of Suprobhat Paribahan, bus that crushed Bangladesh University of Professionals student Abrar Ahmed Chowdhury.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Sadbir Yasin Ahasn Chowdhury put conductor Yasin Arafat and helper Ibrahim to seven-day remand.

The court passed the order as investigation officer Qazi Shariful Islam produced the duo before court and pleaded to put them on ten-day remand.

Earlier the police arrested Arafat from Shahrasti, Chandpur, yesterday and acting on the information gathered in the primary interrogation, Ibharim
was arrested from Middle Badda area in capital this morning.

On March 20, another court put driver Sirajul Islam, 24, to seven days
remand.

Abrar was run over by Suprobhat Paribahan bus on the morning of March
19, as he was trying to cross the road. Abrar’s father Brigadier General
(retd) Arif Ahammed Chowdhury filed a case against the driver, his helper,
conductor and owner of the bus last night with Gulshan Police Station.
