DHAKA, March 21, 2019 (BSS) – Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA) has taken a plan to set up 9.5 kilometers cable car network at the Naf Tourism Park in Jaliardwip under Cox’s Bazar district for making the park more attractive to tourists.

To implement the plan, BEZA today signed a consultancy agreement with the Chittagong Engineering and Technology University (CUET) at BEZA headquarters in the city.

BEZA General Manager Soheler Rahman Chowdhury and Director of CUET Bureau of Research Testing and Consultancy (BRTC) Dr M Tajul Islam signed the agreement on behalf of their respective sides. Principal Coordinator (SDG Affairs) of the Prime Minister Office (PMO) M Abul Kalam Azad and BEZA Executive Chairman Paban Chowdhury were present on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, Abul Kalam Azad underscored the need for opening the Naf Tourism Park for the tourist as early as possible.

He said the installation of the cable cars will make the park more attractive to the tourist.

He suggested the BEZA to open the park by December 1 this year.

Paban Chowdhury said BEZA is trying to introduce new ideas for making attractive the park to the tourist. “We have also taken an initiative to develop the Mirsarai Economic Zone as a tourist spot,” he added.

He informed that an agreement will be signed between BEZA and the tourism corporation for developing the country’s tourism industry.

CUET Vice Chancellor Dr Mohammad Rafiqul Alam, Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation Chairman Akhtaruzzaman Khan Kabir and BEZA Member Harunur Rashid were also present.

The Naf Tourism Park is an amazing island in the middle of the Naf River and it lies in the Southern part of Bangladesh. This park is an island of 290 acres of land. The lofty hill and river have created a perfect condition for the island to be a world-class tourist destination.

The island is 450 kilometers away from capital Dhaka and 185 kilometers from Chittagong city. But it is only 60 kilometers from Cox’s Bazar airport.

The facilities in the park will include a five star hotel, hanging bridge, cable car network, floating jetty, children’s park, an eco-cottage, an oceanarium and water-restaurants.

Under the agreement, CUET will prepare the feasibility study, environment and social impact and structural design. Later, CUET will supervise the cable car network construction work. The whole process will be completed in around 38 months.
