Hajj flight begins July 14

DHAKA, Mar 1, 2018 (BSS) – Religious Affairs Minister Principal Matiur
Rahman today said the Hajj flights carrying Bangladeshi pilgrims for
performing Hajj this year will begin on July 14.

This year, a total of 1,27,198 pilgrims– 7,198 under government
management and 1,20,000 under private management– will perform Hajj from
Bangladesh, said the minister while speaking at a press briefing over the
Hajj management situation at the secretariat here.

Earlier in the day, Principal Motiur Rahman inaugurated the registration
process of the Hajj pilgrims for 2018 under the government management which
will continue till March 11.

“The government has opened a hotline-09602666707-at the ministry for
conveying any allegations and it will remain open for providing information
about Hajj,” the minister said, adding that the particular size Polybag and
kit bags, inscribed with the National flag, will have to be brought by the
hajj travelers with their own management.

Matiur said none of the Hajj travelers will be replaced without taking
registration and they don’t need any kind of police verifications.

The Religious Affairs Minister said there are two packages– Taka 3,97,929
for package one and Taka 3,31,359 for package two– for the hajj travelers
under the government management and the flight fair has been fixed Taka
1,38,191 under these two packages.

The minister also informed complaint was found against 193 Hajj agencies
for different irregularities. Of these, the licenses of 64 Hajj agencies were
cancelled and the security money was also seized while 17 Hajj agencies were
fined with suspension of license.

Apart from this, 49 hajj agencies have been fined, 12 hajj agencies have
been alert and other 51 agencies have been suspended from the works related
on Hajj programmes, the minister highlighted.

Religious Affairs Secretary Anisur Rahman was present during the press
conference.
