None could resist BCL’s victory in DUCSU polls: Hasan

DHAKA, March 12, 2019 (BSS) – Awami League Publicity and Publication Secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud today said the united efforts by the leftists and the rightists could not resist the victory of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) in the Dhaka University Central Student’s Union (DUCSU) polls.

“The victory of the candidates from other panels or independent one, who boycotted the polls, proved that they have failed actually… Chhatra League achieved the victory,” he told a press conference held at the AL president’s political office in city’s Dhanmondi.

Later, Hasan, also the information minister, joined a meeting of AL subcommittee on publicity and publication with its Chairman and Prime Minister’s Political Advisor HT Imam presiding.

Hasan said the DUCSU polls were held amid huge enthusiasm. “The polls were held after about 28 years. You know that the female students were assaulted during every polls of the university in the past. But this time, such type of incidents did not happen. Every party including the leftists, the rightists and the quota reformists took part in the polls,” he added.

No one could resist the victory of BCL, he said, adding, “The university authorities are saying that there were some mistakes in the polls and they have already taken steps to this end,” the AL leader said.

Hasan said, “Some candidates who boycotted the polls, including VP candidate, have been elected. The overall DUCSU polls were held peacefully. I congratulate all elected candidates.”

He said no one could find the existence of Chhatra Dal in the DUCSU polls. They were missing in the polls, he added.

The AL Publicity and Publication Sub-committee members joined the meeting while AL Deputy Publicity and Publication Secretary Aminul Islam Amin conducted it.

The meeting discussed about the publications marking the ‘Mujib Barsho’. It also discussed about different programmes of the committee marking the upcoming birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
