Children will be barred from browsing dirty sites soon – Jabber

CHATTOGRAM, March 11, 2019 (BSS)-Post, Tele-Communications and Information Technology Minister Mostafa Jabber today disclosed that steps are being taken so that boys and girls will not be able to browse “dirty” sites on the Internet.

“The measures could go into effect as early as six months, if guardians desired,” he said.

“Nearly 20,000 obscene sites from the Net have been removed in the last couple of weeks,” the minister said, while inaugurating an e-learning fair at Nasirabad Government Boys’ High School.

Terming the internet as a great source of knowledge across the world, the minister urged guardians to use the Internet, otherwise their wards would be cut off from the rest of the world.

“It is your responsibility to get your children to use the Net, while we ensure its security,” the technology minister said.

Referring to the Prime Minister’s dream of every student with a laptop, “four crore students in our country will get digital devises”, the minister said.

He also said 710 educational institutions have been prepared with modern computer labs, work for building another 5000 labs are underway and 25000 more labs will be established in the next couple of years.

“There will be no educational institutions without a lab, there will be no class room without multi media and as such there will be no student who will learn without a lab,” the minister announced.

He said at present the students of 640 educational institutions are being imparted with technological knowledge and technical education will be imparted to students along with Internet education for eradication of unemployment.

Director of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Pradip Chakrobworti presided over the function, while joint program director Mohammad Abu Sayeed Sheik, Consultant A K M Shamsul Huq, deputy director of Secondary and Higher Secondary Directorate Mohammad Aziz Uddin, Head Master of Nasirabad Government Boys’ High School Faridul Alam Hossaini spoke on the occasion.
