Ekushey Boimela vibrant with readers and visitors
DHAKA, Feb 18, 2019 (BSS) – The 18th day of the Amar Ekushey Boimela or
Ekushey Book Fair passed with numerous readers, visitors and newly launched
books.
A total of 2687 books have been published so far in the fair, along with
139 new books, including books about Sufism, the Liberation War, Children’s
literature, Sports and Journalism.
After the hailstorm on Sunday some stalls were drenched and damaged. The
book fair authority has warned the stall owners about the possible rain that
can probably occur on 23, 24, 25 February, although they have got
precautionary logistics available.
For the very first time, the children’s movies awarded by Bangla Academy
in 2008-2019 were displayed at an exhibition at the 2nd floor of the Dr.
Muhammad Enamul Haque Bhaban of Bangla Academy premises, which will continue
till 28th February from 3pm to 9pm. The exhibition was inaugurated by the
Director General of Bangla Academy, Habibullah Siraji.
Like every year, a discussion programme ‘The consciousness of the
Liberation War in Rhyme literature’ will be held on 19 February, Tuesday, at
4pm at the main stage of the fair. The main article at the discussion will be
presented by Sujan Barua.
Alam Talukder, Aslam Sunny, Lutfar Rahman Liton, Amirul Islam and Anjir
Liton will participate in the discussion presided over by Syed Mohammed
Shaheed.
