SANGSAD BHABAN, Feb 14, 2019 (BSS) – The government will recruit 5,000
physicians within the next two months aimed at minimizing the shortage of
physicians across the country, Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid
Maleque said today.
“A process is underway to recruit 10,000 physicians,” he said, responding
to a supplementary from treasury member Atiur Rahman Atik in the Jatiya
The minister said the government would appoint 10,000 physicians for
mitigating the crisis of doctors across the country.
Replying to another supplementary from opposition bench member Fakhrul
Imam, the health minister said the health ministry is a big ministry as
around 16 crore people across the country are getting healthcare services
“Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has received many awards for Bangladesh’s
success in the health sector. The life expectancy of Bangladeshis has
increased to 72 and child and maternal death rate has declined
significantly,” he informed the House.
