BIDA chief for expediting pro-investment services to attract FDI

DHAKA, Feb 12, 2019 (BSS) – Executive Chairman of Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) Kazi M Aminul Islam today urged the authorities concerned to act positively for expediting pro-investment services to achieve the goal of attracting foreign direct investment (FDI) in the country.

“There should not be any division between the private sector and the public sector, rather we need to work together hand in hand,” he said when the Board of Directors of Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) led by its President Osama Taseer met him at the BIDA headquarter, said a press release.

The BIDA chief said Bangladesh has a huge number of educated youth who are still unemployed.

He urged the private sector to come up with more investments to create more employment opportunities in the country.

He also said Bangladesh needs to upgrade services and facilities in the country’s airports so that a foreign investor may get a positive impression about the investment environment of the country after arriving in Bangladesh first.

Osama Taseer said to improve in the rank of ease of doing business index, Bangladesh has to attract local and foreign investments.

Among others, DCCI Vice President Imran Ahmed and Directors Hossain A Sikder, Ashraf Ahmed, SM Zillur Rahman, Mohammad Bashiruddin, Alhaj Deen Mohammad, Enamul Haque Patwary were present at the meeting.
