Sujan urges young people to move with Bengali culture

RANGPUR, Feb 8, 2019 (BSS) – Railways Minister Advocate Md Nurul Islam
Sujan today called upon the young generation to move forward by upholding and
nurturing rich Bengali culture and heritage.

The minister made the call while addressing the inaugural ceremony of a
two-day Pitha Utsab-2019 and reception function held on Panchagarh Mokbular
Rahman Government College ground in Panchagarh town as the chief guest.

The college is arranging a Pitha Utsab (Cake Festival) with the slogan of
“Call to everyone, come with thrilled mind”.

Students of the institution has set up 25 stalls displaying varieties of
traditional, distinctively tasty and popular cakes of Panchagarh in the Pitha
Utsab with huge sales of those amid thronging people of all ages.

Students of the educational institution have colourfully decorated the
joyous college campus as well as the Pitha stalls side by side with giving
attractive names.

Many people are visiting stalls named ‘Amravati’, ‘Abohoman’, ‘Rangdhanu’,
‘Pous Parban’, ‘Pithanjoli’, ‘Bipratib’, ‘Barnali Swapno’ ‘Chhoyaa’,
‘Roopshree’, ‘Falguni’ ‘Kutumbari’, ‘Raser Hari’ and ‘Rupsi Bangla’ on the
festival ground.

Besides, the student artists of the college have arranged pleasant
cultural programmes enthralling huge audiences.

The intensive joy of Panchagarh people is engulfed with the local
tradition, cakes and culture in the festival that attracts them to celebrate
that pleasure together in a festival-oriented environment.

Centering the Pitha Utsab, the college campus has turned into a place of
festivity of the youths opening an opportunity to enjoy the traditional
cultural programmes.

The minister with other invited guests visited various stalls set up on
the festival ground.

Later, Principal of the college Professor Md Delwar Hossain Prodhan
presided over the function arranged to accord reception to the Minister
there.

Additional Deputy Inspector General for Rangpur Range Police Md Mazid Ali,
Additional District Magistrate of Panchagarh Ehtesam Reza, Acting
Superintendent of Police Naymul Hasan, Sadar Upazila Parishad Chairman and
District Awami League General Secretary Anwar Sadat Samrat and festival
convener Nazmul Huda also spoke.

The Railways minister said Banglabandha is a potential land port in
Panchagarh.

“We will extend the rail line from Panchagarh to Siliguri city in India via
Banglabandha land port aiming at further expanding the communication network
and connectivity with India, Nepal and Bhutan in the future,” he said.

Sujan committed to provide buses for transportation of students of the
college, construction of its boundary walls and launching honours courses in
more subjects in the institution.

“The issue of construction of bypass road around Panchagarh district town
is also being considered,” the minister said.
