33rd Jatiya Kabita Utsab begins Feb 1

DHAKA, Jan 31, 2019 (BSS) – A two-day 33rd national poetry festival
(Jatiya Kabita Utsab) begins on the central library premises of the Dhaka
University in the capital tomorrow (Feb 1).

Jatiya Kabita Parishad (JKP)is organizing the festival with a theme of
“victory for Bangalees, victory for poetry.”

Poet Asad Chowdhury will inaugurate the festival at 10am, said a press release.

More than 400 noted poets, writers and researchers from twelve countries
across the world including Bangladesh, India, Turkey, Yemen, China, Vietnam,
and Uruguay will participate in the festival, poet Aminur Rahman told BSS on
behalf of the central committee of the JKP.

On the inaugural day, a rally will be brought out at 10.30am from the
festival place at Teachers Students Center (TSC) of the Dhaka University.

The rally will then move towards the Central Shahid Minar, where the poets
will pay tribute to the martyrs of the language movement. The poets
participating at the rally will also pay tributes at the grave of
Shilpacharya Zainul Abedin, painter Kamrul Hasan and poet Kazi Nazrul Islam.

With Jatiya Kabita Parishad President and Pro Vice-Chancellor (Pro-VC) of
the Dhaka University Dr Muhammad Samad, the inaugural programme will begin
with the national anthem, hoisting of the national flag, Ekushey song and
festival song at 11am.

The two-day festival would feature elaborate programmes, including
recitation of poems, seminars, discussions and exhibitions on poets and
poetry.

Poetry sessions will be held each day of the festival up to 9pm.
