AL promises to create 1.5-cr jobs, review recruitment age

DHAKA, Dec 18, 2018 (BSS) – Ruling Awami League in its election manifesto today pledged to create 1.5 crore new jobs by 2023 and review scopes to enhance the age limit for recruitment in government services.

“If the party is voted to power again, it will take logical measures regarding raising the age limit for entering the government jobs in terms of reality. However, steps have already been taken to create 1.5 crore additional jobs by 2030,” AL President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said while reading out the manifesto ahead of the 11th national election slated
for December 30.

The government has already been providing Taka 200,000 as credit facilities to each person on easy term basis without any collateral through the Karmasangsthan Bank aiming at creating self-employment and youth entrepreneurs, she said, adding that it will be further expanded in the future.

A ‘Young Entrepreneur Policy’ will be formulated to encourage the youth for becoming entrepreneur and ‘Youth Entertainment Center’ will be set up at each upazila, Sheikh Hasina said.

AL will launch a ‘Youth Plan’ to allow the youths to get information technology services, including internet at reduced cost while government drug addiction treatment and rehabilitation center will be built at each upazila to save the youths from drug abuse, she said.

Grant allocation for the non-government drug addiction treatment and rehabilitation centers will be enhanced, the prime minister added.
