Signal 3 to continue for maritime ports

DHAKA, Dec 18, 2018 (BSS) – Maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar,
Mongla and Payra have been advised to continue hoisting the local cautionary
signal number three as a well-marked low is persisting over the Northwest Bay
of Bengal and adjoining area.

The deep depression over coastal Andhra Pradesh and adjoining area moved
north-northeastwards weakened into depression and then into a well-marked low
over the Northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining area, said a met office
weather bulletin here today.

It is likely to move north-northeasterly direction further and weaken
gradually by giving precipitation.

Under its influence, gusty or squally wind is likely to affect the maritime
ports and coastal areas of Bangladesh.

All fishing boats and trawlers over the North Bay have been advised to
remain in shelter till further notice.

Besides, in press release, the met office predicted light to moderate rain
at many places over Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram, Sylhet and Dhaka divisions
and at a few places over Rangpur, Rajshahi and Mymensingh divisions during 24
hours as of 9 am tomorrow.

Night temperature may fall by 2-4 degrees Celsius and day temperature may
remain nearly unchanged over the country during the period.

The maximum temperature in the country was recorded 32.0 degrees Celsius
yesterday at Teknaf in Chattogram division and minimum temperature was 14.0
degrees Celsius today at Nikli in Dhaka division.

The sun sets at 5:15 pm today and rises at 6:36 am tomorrow in the capital
city.
