48th Victory Day observed in New Delhi

NEW DELHI, Dec 16, 2018 (BSS)-Bangladesh High Commission in New Delhi
celebrated the 48th Victory Day today paying homage to Father of the Nation
Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the 1971 Liberation War martyrs.

The mission also gratefully recalled the total support India had extended
to the Liberation War and the supreme sacrifices made by the Indian soldiers
who fought along with the Mukti Senas of Bangladesh.

The day’s programmes featured hoisting of the national flag by Deputy High
Commissioner A.T.M. Rokebul Haque, playing national anthem, reading out
Victory Day messages from Bangladesh President Md. Abdul Hamid, Prime
Minister Sheikh Hasina, Foreign Minister A.H. Mahmood Ali and State Minister
for Foreign Affairs Md. Shahriar Alam.

Bangladesh High Commissioner to India Syed Muazzem Ali attended the Victory
Day programme in Kolkata.

A special prayer was offered seeking divine blessings for the martyrs of
1971 and Bangabandhu, his family members who were killed on August 15, 1975.

A cultural evening organized by the New Delhi mission marking the Victory
Day will be held on Monday.
