President asks BAF members to work with utmost honesty, sincerity

JASHORE, Dec 12, 2018 (BSS) – President M Abdul Hamid today asked the newly-commissioned officers of Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) to develop their professional skills through the proper practice and application of the basic trainings they have received.

“Remain ready for all time to develop your professional skills through the proper practice and application of the basic trainings you have received from the academy,” he said, addressing the President Parade of Bangladesh Air Force Academy (BAFA) at the academy’s parade ground here.

The head of the state asked the BAF members to perform their responsibilities with utmost honesty, sincerity and integrity.

He said BAF members will have to stay always ready for playing a role in any need of the country alongside safeguarding its (country) independence and sovereignty.

“I hope that you would never backtrack from the oath that you took to keep free Bangladesh’s air space, being imbued with the spirit of true patriotism as well as remaining respectful to the holy constitution,” he said.

Expressing his firm optimism that BAF would turn into a most modern air force soon, the President said the incumbent government took various pragmatic steps to modernize the air force and making it more time-befitting.

“We inducted the fifth generation fighter planes, high-powered air defence RADAR into the air force and modern war weapons with a view to enhancing the capability of the force,” he said.

Referring to the “Forces Goal-2030” in the light of the Defence Policy of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the President hoped that it (policy) would strengthen the air force.

President Hamid said the newly-constructed international standard Bangabandhu Complex for the Air Force Academy will ensure the optimum use of information technology (IT) to materialize the “Digital Bangladesh”.

Pointing out Bangabandhu’s foreign policy -“Friendship to all, malice to none”, the President said, “Bangladesh doesn’t want war . . . want peace. Our forces are firm to protect the country’s Independence and sovereignty.”

Earlier, the President reviewed the smartly turned-out parade and took salute at an impressive march past as the chief guest. He also handed over trophies, certificates and flying badges to the flight cadets.

Flight Cadet Academy Under Officer K M Mahfuzul Karim commanded the parade, which was followed by a spectacular fly past of different BAF aircraft.

With today’s Winter President Parade, a total of 61 flight cadets, including 10 female officers, were commissioned.

Flight Cadet Squadron Junior Under Riana Azad was presented with the most coveted “Sword of Honour” for his best all round performance in 75 BAF Academy Course, while Flight Cadet BM Tanvir Islam Rabby received the “Commandant’s Trophy” for his best performance in General Service Training of the batch.

Flight Cadet RHM Nafee received “Birshreshtha Matiur Rahman Trophy” for his best performance in flying training, while Flight Cadet Md Nafiz-Al-Manar received “Chief of Air Staff Trophy” for his best all-round performance in Ground Batch.

Number 01 Squadron, which was adjudged the “Champion Squadron” was awarded with Academy Colour for overall performance.

Diplomats, political leaders, senior officials of three forces, members of parliament, secretaries concerned to the president and other high civil and military officials, and parents and guardians of the newly-commissioned officers were present.
