DHAKA, Dec 09, 2018 (BSS) – Food Minister Advocate Qamrul Islam today charged the BNP-Jamaat clique with making the upcoming 11th national parliament elections questionable, noting that the people are in a festive mood ahead of the polls.

“The BNP-Jamaat would try to create anarchy on the polls day as the BNP is a terrorist party,” the minister said this as the chief guest while addressing a woman rally in Ghatarchar area this afternoon.

The people is now gripped with enthusiasm as the polls fever is running high, said the minister, adding that the 11th parliament elections will be held like the 1970 polls.

Criticizing the role of the BNP, the minister said the BNP had not carried out development works for the welfare of the people. Even BNP founder president Ziaur Rahman came to power illegally and patronized communal politics in the country.

On the other hand, he said “we have liberated our country but not yet achieved economic freedom… We are now enjoying full freedom under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.”

Sheikh Hasina has secured 26th position in the ranking out of 100 great leaders across the world, the minister added.

Chaired by convenor of polls moderating coordination committee of Dhaka-2 constituency Shafiul Azam Khan Barku, the meeting also was addressed, among others, by the food minister’s spouse Tayeba Islam, his son Dr Tanjil Islam Wadid, member secretary Yousuf Ali Chowdhury Selim, Assistant Secretary of Awami League central sub-committee M Altaf Hossen Biplob and Advocate Enamul Haq.
