Iranian Envoy calls on DU VC

DHAKA, Dec 5, 2018 (BSS) – Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran in
Bangladesh Mohammad Reza Nafar called on Dhaka University (DU) Vice-
Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman today at the latter’s office of
the university.

The ambassador was accompanied by Mehdi Torabi, Political Secretary of the
Iranian Embassy in Dhaka.

Prof. Dr. KM Saiful Islam Khan of the Department of Persian Language and
Literature of DU and some other teachers were present there.

During the meeting they stressed the need for exchanging more students,
teachers, researchers and cultural teams between Bangladesh and Iran.

The possibilities of undertaking joint collaborative research programs
between the University of Dhaka and Iranology Foundation, Iran were also
discussed in the meeting.

The Ambassador sought help and cooperation from DU Vice-Chancellor to
resolve various problems of Iranian students who are studying at different
affiliated colleges of Dhaka University.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman assured the Iranian envoy of
providing all possible support and cooperation in this regard.

The Vice-Chancellor said an excellent friendly relation has been
prevailing between Bangladesh and Iran for a long time. These friendly ties
between the two countries will be further strengthened in the days to come,
he hoped.
