RMP seeks student’s support to make drug free society

RAJSHAHI, Dec 4, 2018 (BSS) – Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP)
officials have sought student’s support to make the society free from drug
and terrorism.

They said integrated efforts of police and common people including
students can root out social menaces like child marriage and violence against
women.

They came up with the observation while addressing a view-sharing
meeting with leaders and members of various student community policing units
organised by RMP in the city Monday.

RMP Commissioner AKM Hafiz Akter addressed the meeting as focal person
while Additional Deputy Commissioner Golam Ruhul Quddus, Senior Assistant
Commissioner Ifte Khayer Alam and Assistant Commissioner Ekramul Haque
supplemented him.

The student community policing activities had been launched in Rajshahi
College for the first time on January 3, 2017. Afterwards, the activies were
expanded to Rajshahi University, Rajshahi University of Engineering and
Technology, Rajshahi Government City College and Barendra University and
Barendra College.

More than 1,000 students of the higher seats of learning were involved
in the activities.

Hafiz Akter said the RMP has intensified the activities of community
policing to prevent crimes from the society, adding that community policing
was very important for resolving social problems and combating crimes.

He said joint efforts of police and people can curb anti-social
activities to build a crime-free society.

He stressed the need for boosting relationship between police and people
and exploring the opportunities of community policing for strengthening law
and order situation in the society.
