DHAKA, Dec 2, 2018 (BSS)- By grabbing 12 wickets in Test, Mehidy Hasan
Miraz created the biggest margin Test victory for Bangladesh crushing
visiting West Indies by an innings and 184 runs in the second and final Test
at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Saturday.

The Tigers managed a clean sweep victory in the two-match series by 2-0.

The platform was laid by Mahmudullah, Shakib Al Hasan, Shadman Islam and
Liton Das after the spinner ran through the West Indies batting line up
dismissing the visitors in their second innings at 213 after they got off to
another bad start after a follow-on and lost the Test.

West Indies resumed their first innings on the third day with overnight
score of 75 for 5 and were finally dismissed in their first innings at 111.

Miraz, who took three wickets on the second day, today picked up the
wickets of Shimron Hetmyer, Devendra Bishoo, Kemar Raoch and Shane Dowrich to
complete his career best figure of 7-58, after the visitors added only 36
runs with their overnight score losing the remaining five wickets.

Being forced to follow on after trailing by 397 runs in the first innings,
the Caribbean were again in trouble as they lost four wicket in the first
session of the day in their second innings and eventually all out for 213
after the West Indies batsmen failed to put up any resistance against
Bangladesh’s sharp spin attack.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz struck again on West Indies innings in the post lunch
session as he removed Shai Hope for 25 runs while Young Star Youngster Nayeem
took the wicket of Shane Dowrich before Hetmyer laid seize as Windies score
crossed 100.

Having reached his 50 in the same over that Dowrich got out, Hetmyer hit
four more sixes, including three in the same over off Shakib Al Hasan.

Mehedi Miraz bagged his third wicket of the innings and his second ten-
wicket haul in career — the second Bangladesh bowler after Shakib to achieve
this feat, as Devandra Bishoo edged to Soumya Sarkar at slip.

Miraz then accounted the wicket of Hetmyer after the left-hander hit a
stormy 92-ball 93 as Windies lost their eighth wicket.

Youngster Nayeem took the wicket of Shane Dowrich before Hetmyer laid seize
as Windies score crossed 100. Having reached his 50 in the same over that
Dowrich got out, Hetmyer hit four more sixes, including three in the same
over off Shakib Al Hasan.

Mehidy completed his fifth wicket haul taking the wicket of Jomel Warrican
as the tail ender gave a return catch to Mehidy while Taijul Islam put an end
to West Indies’s innings taking the last wicket of Shermon Lewis (20). Miraz,
the wrecker in chief, caused the major damage as he grabbed five wickets for
59 runs. He was well supported by Taijul Islam who claimed three wickets
conceding 40 runs.

Miraz was named the player of the match for his devastating bowling
performance while Shakib Al Hasan was given the man of the series award.

In his immediate reaction Mehidy said, “After a long time I got the award,
and I’m really happy. My teammates have been really supportive. Our bowlers
did really well – especially Taijul and Shakib. Nayeem supported really well
too. At the end of the day we did very well and we have been successful. I
love batting too, and our batsmen set the tone with a 500+ score, so that
made the job easier for the bowlers.”
