DHAKA, Nov 24, 2018 (BSS) – President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today issued separate messages congratulating the exporters selected for the National Export Trophy 2015-16.
They will be given the award at a function in the city tomorrow.
In a message on the eve of this occasion, President Abdul Hamid said the exporters are playing a vital role in country’s economic development through their merit and hard work.
The role of the export sector in Bangladesh’s GDP (Gross Domestic Product) has been increasing day by day. The country is now recognized as a developing country, he said.
President Hamid said the government is implementing different programmes to expand the country’s business. The government is setting up specialized economic zones across the country along with constructing LNG terminals for ensuring the energy security.
He said the honouring the exporters through awarding the trophy will keep a positive role in facing the global challenges and to create new entrepreneurs.
In another message, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said the export sector is playing a vital role in the economic development of Bangladesh.
The export sector is playing an important role to increase investment and to create employment opportunity, she said, adding the government is working relentlessly to strength the economy of the country.
“The government has already declared ‘Vision 2021’ and ‘Vision 2041’ in this regard and made a delta plan for 2021… The government is working to implement the visions through short-term and long-term plans,” she said.
Sheikh Hasina said the government is working with the business community closely to develop the export sector gradually and to expand the business.
She thanked the Commerce Ministry and Export Promotion Bureau for taking the initiative of giving state honour to the entrepreneurs who are playing role in the export sector.
