Stocks end week mixed

DHAKA, Dec 28, 2017 (BSS) – Stocks ended the week on Thursday mixed with rising trend of major price indices at Dhaka and Chittagong Stock Exchanges.

The broader DSEX of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) closed the week with 61.73 points up at 6,244.52. The blue-chip DS30 and Shariah DSES also followed the same trend with 52.03 points up at 2,283.23 and with 24.11 points up at 1,390.67.

The daily average trade value at DSE was 11.70 percent up at Taka 477.72 crore. But the trade volume was 23.64 percent down at 11.59 crore shares.

Out of the 340 traded securities, 112 closed higher against 202 losing issues when 25 remained unchanged.

During the week, the top five gainers were Lafarge Surma Cement, Rupali Bank, Bangladesh Lamps, Paramount Textile and Islami Bank. The five major losing companies were Emerald Oil Industries, NAHEEACP, Republic Insurance, Meghna Condensed Milk Industries and BBS Cables. The top five turnover leaders were Lafarge Surma Cement, Nahee Aluminum Composite Panel, Islami Bank, Square Pharmaceuticals and Olympic Industries.

Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also closed the week up, with its major CASPI index ending 145.30 points higher at 19,268.04.
