Farmers getting incentives in Rajshahi division

RAJSHAHI, Nov 19, 2018 (BSS) – Around 1.47 lakh small and marginal
farmers are getting special agriculture incentives in terms of seed and
fertilisers worth around Taka 17.70 crore in eight districts under Rajshahi
division.

According to the officials concerned, Department of Agriculture
Extension (DAE) has been distributing the support to assist the small and
marginal farmers in cultivating eight varieties of crops during the 2018-2019
Rabi and Kharip-1 seasons.

SM Mustafizur Rahman, Additional Director of DAE, said distribution of
the incentives for boro, wheat, maize, mustard, groundnut and BT brinjal
crops continues while the farmers will get the same for summer sesame seed
and mungbean later.

He, however, said incentive distribution for farming boro paddy, wheat,
maize, mustard and BT brinjal is now on the final stage.

Agriculturist Rahman said each of the beneficiary farmers are getting
one to 20-kg seed of different crops, 10 to 20-kg Di-ammonium Phosphate (DAP)
and five to 10-kg Muriate of Potash (MoP) fertilisers free of costs to
cultivate crops on one bigha of land.

He told BSS that 32,200 farmers are getting incentives for wheat
farming, 49,000 for mustard, 35,600 for maize, 7,500 for boro rice, 1,400 for
groundnut and 290 farmers for BT brinjal seed farming.

Rahman added that the government is distributing the special agriculture
incentives among the small and marginal farmers to assist them in cultivating
various crops during the Rabi and Kharip-1 seasons.
