Saudi delegates meet JS Speaker

DHAKA, April 8, 2017 (BSS) – Visiting Vice President of two holy mosques in Mokkah and Madina Dr Mohammad Bin Nasser Bin Mohammad Al Khuzaim and Imam and Preacher of the Prophet’s Mosque Abdulmehsin bin Mohammad Bin Abdul Rahman Al-Qasim called on Parliament Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury here yesterday.

During the meeting, they discussed religious sentiment of Bangladeshis, Bangladeshi workers’ role in Saudi Arabia, Hajj management and bilateral relations between the two countries, said a press release.

The speaker thanked the two top religious figures of Saudi Arabia for visiting in Bangladesh and Jatiya Sangsad as well.

She expressed her gratitude to the Saudi government for cooperating Bangladeshi pilgrims during the hajj period and requested it to allow more number of pilgrims.

“Islam is a religion of peace. There is no room for militancy and terrorism in Islam,” Dr Shirin Sharmin said.

She expressed her hope that the speeches of two religious figures at the rally of Islamic religious leaders and scholars in presence of tens of thousands of Muslim devotes would encourage the Muslim community, including the Bangladeshis, to be more vocal against militancy.

The parliament speaker said Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman founded the Islamic Foundation for promotion of Islam and provide real education about the religion to the people.

“Bangabandhu’s daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina included different curricula including Islamic Studies and Islamic History in higher education to strengthen Islamic culture in the country,” she said.

Dr Shirin said Bangladesh’s capital of Dhaka is called as a city of mosques.

She said the government has been working to spread the practice of Islam through setting up mosques, madrashas and as well as universities, including Islamic Arabic University.
