Fire at shopping mall, slum in city doused

DHAKA, Oct 29, 2018 (BSS) – Fire that broke out in a shopping mall and a
slum in the capital’s Uttara and Adabar areas respectively, have been doused.

The fire originated at HM Plaza at Uttara around 1.15 am today and doused
after an hour’s frantic efforts made by six fire fighting engines, senior
station officer Md Safikul Islam of Uttara unit of Fire Service and Civil
Defence told BSS today.

No major damage has been taken place and none was however reportedly hurt
in the fire, he also said.

While, the fire that took place at Adabar Beribandh (embankment) Slum
around 10.45 pm on Sunday, burnt down some shanties, brought under control by
six fire vehicles around 12.40 am today, fire service officer Mizanur Rahman
told BSS.

None was hurt in the fire, he said.

The cause behind both the fire and damages could not be known
immediately, said the officials.
