Decision on election-time govt on Oct 26: Quader
DHAKA, Oct 23, 2018 (BSS) – Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader today said decisions would be taken regarding the election-time government after the AL’s joint meeting on October 26.
“All decisions will be taken on October 26. The AL will hold meetings of its working committee, advisory committee and parliamentary committee on that day,” Quader told a press conference on contemporary political issues at his ministry’s meeting room at the secretariat.
The minister said if the cabinet size becomes smaller, several new faces would be included or if it remains similar to that of the current one, one or two new faces may be included.
Quader said the size of the election-time government will be similar to that of the previous one. But a decision will be taken on October 26 on how many members would be there in the election-time cabinet, he added.
The minister said every party will get equal opportunities for publicity and campaign in the participatory election.
He said the ministers of election-time government cannot use the national flag in vehicles in their own constituencies but they can use it outside their constituencies.
Security of ministers during polls-time government will be kept intact, he said.
The AL general secretary said the election pledges of Awami League have been prepared and those will be disclosed after October 26.
About Barrister Mainul Hosein, Quader said he was not arrested as a new leader of Oikyafront, rather he was arrested for his personal wrongdoings.
He said Awami League has no fear or concern centering Oikyafront, rather Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has welcomed it.
