Mega concert ‘Shekorer Sondhane’ turns Rajshahi city festive

RAJSHAHI, Oct 21, 2018 (BSS) – The mega concert ‘Shekorer Sondhane’, a
cultural event, turned the metropolitan city into a colourful festive place
entertaining more than one lakh people, especially youths, on Liberation War
Memorial Stadium ground here on Saturday night.

The Ministry of Cultural Affairs organised the open air mega concert in
association with local district administration in Rajshahi as a part of the
nationwide programme in all divisional cities of the country to end with the
final concert in the capital city.

The event was organized with the main thrust of apprising grassroots
people about the government’s welfare-oriented and development programmes.

Secretary to Cultural Affairs Ministry Nasir Uddin Ahmed formally
inaugurated the concert amid huge claps of the audience. The organizers along
with the audience observed one-minute silence there in memory of band music
legend Ayub Bachhu, who was supposed to attend the event.

Divisional Commissioner Nur-Ur-Rahman, Deputy Commander of Bangladesh
Infantry Regiment Centre Brig Gen Selim Mahmud, Additional Secretary to
Cultural Affairs Ministry Abdul Mannan Ilias, Joint Secretary Mujibur Rahman
Al Mamun, Rajshahi Metropolitan Police Commissioner AKM Hafiz Akter, Deputy
Commissioner SM Abdul Kader, Superintendent of Police Md Shahidullah, RAB
Director Lt Col Mahbubul Alam and Awami League leader Shaheen Akter and
cultural personalities and artistes from home and abroad were present.

Popular artists Shiba Moni and Arsahd Kuraishi from India, Enton and
Anarakiva from Russia, Neeli and Anavire from Latvia, Sinan from Turkey,
popular Bangladeshi artists Taposh, Kuddus Boyati, Rinku, Oishee, Chistee
bauwl, Jane Alam, Reshmi, Polok, Shamim and many others rendered songs
throbbing every heart of the dancing audience on the venue that turned into a
human sea.

Dozens of local artists rendered dances in the concert focusing rich
cultural heritage of the region and the country as a whole.

Talking to BSS on the concert venue, Aklima Khatun came from Paba, said
she was happy to enjoy the world standard songs, music and dances in the
concert at his hometown.

She thanked the present government under the dynamic leadership of Prime
Minister Sheikh Hasina for taking Bangladesh to a newer height of development
and pride.
