27 held, drugs seized in Dinajpur
DINAJPUR, Dec 18, 2017 (BSS) – Police, in special drives arrested 26
persons including three activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and two drug traders
from different areas of the district in last 12-hour ending at 8am this
morning today.
Law enforcers also recovered 360 liters of locally made liquor and 3,500
pieces of cow fattening tablets during the drives.
Police said they were picked up from different areas of the district.
During the drives, Dinajpur Sadar police arrested four persons including
two drug traders with 360 liters of locally made liquor from North Gobindapur
area around 6am, Birganj Thana police arrested three persons, Birampur Thana
police arrested two persons, Nawabganj Thana police arrested two persons,
Biral Thana police arrested three persons, Bochaganj Thana police arrested
two persons, Khansama Thana police arrested one person, Hakimpur Thana police
arrested two persons Kaharole Thana police arrested two persons and
Chirirbandar Thana police arrested two persons.
Several cases, including charges of subversive activities, are pending with
different police stations against the arrested persons, the sources added.
On secret information Chirirbandar Thana police arrested three wanted
accused of Jamaat-e-Islami from Currentr Bazar area around 11pm of the
upazila.
Meanwhile, members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in a drive detained one
person with 3,500 pieces of cow fattening tablets around 6am from Hili
railway station in Hakimpur upazila of the district.
Later, the arrested person was handed over to the Hakimpur Thana police,
BGB said.
The arrested people were sent to jail.
