Developed countries urged to support Bangladesh in climate change adopting

DHAKA, Oct 16, 2018 (BSS)- Bangladesh Permanent representative in the UN
Ambassador Masud Bin Momen has urged the development partner countries to
stay beside Bangladesh efforts in adopting with adverse affects of climate
change through transferring fund, assets and technologies.

The Ambassador was addressing at the plenary of second committee of the
73rd session of the United Nations General Assembly on sustainable
development at the UN headquarters in New York recently, according to a
message received here today.

During the meeting, He mentioned Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s philosophy
on sustainable development and adopting with adverse affects of climate
change.

The ambassador described various initiatives of Bangladesh government in
the fields of climate change adaptation including taking mega project “Delta
Plan-2100”.

Momen said Sheikh Hasina’s government has allocated fund equivalent to
US$450 million from own resources for adaptation and mitigation purposes and
is striving for transformation of agriculture to make it more resilient to
the impacts of climate change.
