BPL resume from Tuesday

DHAKA, Aug. 1, 2021 (BSS)- The Professional League Management Committee (PLMC) of Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) has decided to resume the postponed Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) football from Tuesday (August 3).

After the Eid-Ul-Azah break, the PFLC also released the fixtures of 20th and 21st rounds of the league by announcing the start of the BPL from Friday last, however, one hour before the start of the match, BFF suddenly announced the postponement of the league.

BFF senior vice president and PLMC’s chairman Abdus Salam Murshedy, MP, in the press conference held today said they want to resume the BPL from Tuesday (Aug.3) as per the announced fixture which will be bodily shifted.     

Murshedy said apart from Bangabandhu National Stadium (BNS) and Birshreshtha Shaheed Sepoy Mohammad Mostafa Kamal Stadium, Army Stadium may be included as the third venue for the league from August 5.

The PGFLC chairman firmly said they want to finish the league by this month.  

Meanwhile, Chittagong Abahani Limited take on Uttar Baridhara Club at Birshreshtha Shaheed Sepoy Mohammad Mostafa Kamal Stadium in the city’s Kamalapur while Rahmatganj Muslim and Friends Society meet struggling Brothers Union Club at BNS.

The port city team Chittagong Abahani Limited currently rank at fifth position in the points table with 31 points from 18 matches while Uttar Baridhara Club stand at ninth position in the points table with 15 points from 17 matches.

Earlier in the first leg, two teams played out to a 2-2 goals draw held at BNS.

On the other hand, the traditional old Dhaka outfit Rahmatganj Muslim and Friends Society stand at tenth position with 15 points from 18 matches while the all orange Gopibagh outfit, who are struggling to avoid relegation, have six points from 17 outings.

Earlier, in the first leg, Rahmatganj blanked Brothers Union Club by 2-0 goals at BNS.
