MYMENSINGH, June 22, 2021 (BSS) - The semifinal matches of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib National Gold Cup Football tournaments (U-17) held today through a festive atmosphere at Rafiq Uddin Bhuiyan Stadium here.
 
In the U-17 boy’s semifinals, host Mymensingh district beat Netrokona district by 4-1 goals while Sherpur district defeated Jamalpur district by 4-0 goals in penalty shoot out to move into the final.
 
In the U-17 girl’s semifinals, Mymensingh district dumped Netrokona district by 8-1 goals while Sherpur district edged past Jamalpur district by 1-0 goal to reach the final.   
 
The finals of both sections will be held on Thursday (June 24).
 
Earlier, State Minister for Cultural Affairs KM Khalid, MP, formally inaugurated the ceremony as the chief guest.

Mymensingh divisional commissioner Shofiqur Reza Bisshash, Range Deputy Inspector General Barrister Harun R Rashid, Mymensingh Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Enamul Haque, Mymensingh police super Ahmar Udzaman, Zilla parishad chairman professor Yousuf Khan Pathan, Metropolis Awami League president Aheteshamul Alom and district sports officer Abdul Bari, were among others, also present on the occasion.
